Only great movies…

Little Big Soldier 2010

Little Big Soldier was released in 2010 in Hong Kong. I really wanted to watch it, because it’s screenplay writer and producer was one of my favorite actors, Jackie Chan.

The most surprising thing about this movie is that there aren’t many actors involved in it. In fact, most of the time is dedicated to two main characters: the Soldier (by Jackie Chan) and the General (by Wang Lee Hom). Soldier finds enemy’s General after another battle and captures him. He hopes to get a huge reward and return to peaceful life in exchange to his prisoner; however, they need first to overcome a long distance before they reach Soldier’s homeland.

During their journey two heroes have to participate in a number of fights that are filmed well and with humour.

Still, I think that the main point in Little Big Soldier is conversations between two main heroes. They discuss human qualities that cause wars and argue about the sense in battles. Is it right to kill others in order to get more money, lands or in order to receive a “hero” title? All of these and other important moralistic issues are presented in the movie.

Of course, some may say that Little Big Soldier is a boring movie due to it’s philosophical features. But, as I have written before, there are beautiful and funny fighting scenes that add a lot of interest to the movie. It is truly amazing how Jackie Chan is able to find “weapons” even in mountains and forests: stones, sticks or even animals! 😀
